International Saharan Tourism Festival (FITS) 2026 – Adrar

The 8th edition of the International Saharan Tourism Festival (FITS) will take place from November 12 to 14, 2026, in Adrar, in the heart of the Algerian Sahara.

This international event dedicated to promoting Saharan tourism will showcase the natural, cultural, spiritual, and heritage treasures of Algeria’s Great South, with particular emphasis on the tourism potential of the Wilaya of Adrar.

A Showcase for Algerian Saharan Tourism

FITS 2026 aims to offer visitors an authentic experience of the Sahara through its many dimensions: culture, hospitality, traditions, desert landscapes, history, heritage, traditional clothing, folklore, music, arts, and gastronomy.

The event will also serve as a showcase for promoting Algerian Saharan tourism to visitors and tourism professionals, both nationally and internationally.

Adrar: Cultural and Spiritual Tourism

This 8th edition will place particular emphasis on cultural and spiritual tourism and the rich heritage that characterizes the Adrar region.

Ancient ksour, oases, traditional irrigation systems, architectural heritage, and cultural and religious events will highlight the region’s identity and history.

Intangible heritage will also be celebrated, particularly through the Sbuâ of Timimoun, inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Craftsmanship and Know-How of Algeria’s Great South

Traditional craftsmanship will play an important role in the program, highlighting the artisans of the wilayas of Algeria’s Great South.

A dedicated traditional crafts area will feature live workshops and demonstrations, showcasing techniques, creations, and skills passed down from generation to generation.

Special attention will also be given to the role of rural women and women from the ksour in preserving and passing on traditional craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

Innovation and Digital Technology Serving Tourism

FITS 2026 also aims to bring together tourism and innovation.

Start-ups from southern Algeria operating in the tourism sector will be encouraged to participate and present innovative solutions that contribute to promoting the Sahara and enhancing its tourism and cultural heritage.

An award is also planned to recognize a start-up for outstanding work in Saharan tourism marketing and innovative tourism services.
