KOUR Art Gallery (رواق الفن كور) is an art gallery located at Rue Otmani Kheira, Oran, inaugurated in November 2021 by master calligrapher Noureddine Kour. The first space of its kind in Oran, it is entirely dedicated to contemporary Arabic calligraphy and visual arts inspired by the sign.
The gallery highlights a unique artistic practice: linear and modern Arabic calligraphy, enriched with abstract, cubist, and graphic touches. Each work illustrates the encounter between letter and color, between cultural heritage and contemporary expression. With over 40 years of practice, Noureddine Kour has shaped an artistic identity where the tradition of Arabic letterism dialogues with modern aesthetic codes.
With its 220 m² of surface area, its clean white walls, and carefully designed lighting, the gallery offers a minimalist setting designed to enhance each exhibited work【myalgeria.com】. This environment allows for total immersion in the calligraphic universe, transforming the visit into an aesthetic and spiritual experience.
While the gallery primarily presents the creations of Noureddine Kour, it also aims to be a place for sharing, welcoming emerging artists exploring calligraphy, miniatures, and visual arts related to the sign. It thus becomes a bridge between generations of artists, a space for transmission and innovation.
KOUR Art Gallery is not merely an exhibition space; it is a center for discovery and reflection on the power of line and sign in Arabic art. Visitors will find:
permanent and temporary exhibitions of modern calligraphy,
original works available for sale,
a space for artistic exchange centered on Algerian visual culture,
an opening to the international scene through Kour's participation in major events, such as the Cairo International Arabic Calligraphy Forum.
